My Story

Hello, I'm Emily,

the visionary behind Strike Your Match Speed Dating (SYM). SYM was born in November 2023 with a mission to enhance the dating scene in Salt Lake City, UT. Like many, I found myself frustrated with dating apps—endlessly swiping, feeling anxious, and often disappointed. I wanted to create an alternative that brought back the magic of real, face-to-face interactions.

Inspired by the growing popularity of speed dating in cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago, I wondered why Salt Lake City wasn’t offering a similar experience. When I discovered that most local events were only held online, I decided it was time to make in-person speed dating a reality. With the generosity of Shades on State, I hosted my first event in January 2024. By the end of the year, I had successfully held six events at various venues, creating countless opportunities for singles to connect.

Building SYM has been an exciting journey. I love crafting unique speed dating themes that foster genuine connections. When I’m not planning or hosting events, I’m spending time with my 6-year-old son and two dogs. Originally from Arizona, I’ve proudly called Utah home since 2010. Alongside my passion for speed dating, I work as a Project Manager for a local credit union.

Just like the singles who attend my events, I’m on my own quest for a life companion. Until that day comes, I’m honored to provide a vibrant, in-person space where singles can meet, mingle, and hopefully find someone special.

Speed dating is fast, fun, efficient, and affordable. In just one night, you can meet and date up to ten people. It’s a great way to break out of your comfort zone, build connections, and have a memorable evening.
